A life changing magic of tidying up by KonMari

As the title has explicitly showed the main topic of the book - it's about tidying.

It shows benefits of tidying your house and also methods to tidy different types of items.
What is the best way to start tidy?
How should you store your items?
How to tell whether should you throw something?
I agree that it is only right to keep things that give you joy rather than keeping it because it is a gift.

And getting more storage items like cupboard or box may not be a good idea as it may take up more  room space.
Quite the opposite of the norm practice.

Overall, it is good book to start off if you want to try tidying your home.

The best takeaway is the point of tidying it just once. Then by putting items back to original place. You don't have to spend loads of time to tidy it again.

She shows examples of people throwing twenty to fifty bags of items..that's serious load of stuff. And money.. Hmm.

So I began my cleaning sphree for a whole afternoon. Throwing 3 bags of items.. Finally throwing some stuff that I thought I shouldnt throw the last time i tided.

I guess tidying your space also helps in tidying your life.

Do I feel some light at the end of the tunnel? Haha

The Meeting Book by Helen Chapman

Meeting..

It seems that meeting is unavoidable when you are in a working setting.
Even though we were having it too during school days.

But meeting seems unproductive when it gets too long especially you will finish your work in the normal working hours.

So I picked up this book.
Hopefully I could pick up some tricks.

This book presents a meeting Kaleidoscope which comprises 4 components:

  • The purpose of the meeting
  • The people in the meeting
  • The process of the meeting
  • The content being shared
and the book covers all 4 components in details.

Purpose is definitely the most important. It gives the focus to the participant.
It has to clear and well-defined so that everyone is on the same page.
if not, the meeting is gonna be endless.

People required in the meetings are broken down into a few types:
1.Expert
2.Chairperson
3.The facilitator

So when you are invited or inviting someone. It is good to understand why you require him or her.
This should apply to the participants as well so that they could be more involved and contribute his or her expertise in order to achieve the objective.

Process in which the meeting is conducted.
In meeting, agenda is required. but how should the agenda be designed?
It introduces 2 distinct layers of good agenda design:
1. Overaching Framework
2. step-by-step Framework

Normally, I believe it is a mix of both.
but it depends on what kind of meeting you are having.

and lastly, Content.
how much content should you be sharing with the participants?
At times, it is good to show a detailed content, if it is supposed to be a meeting for brainstorming & discussion. I have learnt my lesson to share some content to participants before the meeting. Because participants will require time to think through and the meeting is not a right time or place to do it if we want to have an effective meeting.

so that's about it. It is a short & nice read which I think it is applicable to work settings. In fact, I myself have been doing it. Good to know!

Feeling terrible now. My throat hurts like mad. Each time I drank water, it started to burn afterwards. Wasn't able to sleep the entire ...
