Left work slightly earlier than usual.
To check out the completed painting job done to the apartment.
It looks cleaner now with the new paint.
New window blind is installed.
So I decided to throw the spoilt one away.
Try to test my luck on the bigger dustbin at level one.
Sadly, it didnt fit.
So I couldn't throw it there. (most probably since it is considered as bulk item. Maybe I have to check it again.)
Then, the estate cleaner, an indian/"bangla" approached me, and offered to throw it for me.
But of course with a gift of a "token" or "coffee money".
I hesitated. Wondering how much do I had to pay him.
He said, any.
So I pulled up 2 dollars.
He refused. He said a call for a Lorry to remove bulk items, require 70 dollars..
But I had only a window blind..
So I thought 5 dollars?
Actually I was already intending to bring it out and find a rubbish dump nearby myself.
Even though he said it was not allowed.
So I pulled up 5 dollars.
He said no. 10 dollars, he can throw it for me.
Of course. I refused. 10 dollars is too much.
I took back my broken window blind from him.
And started to walk off.
Then, he said. Okay. 5 dollars, I throw it for you.
I was like.. okay.
But deep in my mind, I was thinking 5 dollars also seemed expensive.
My intended token was only 2 dollars.
But, to save the trouble of spending time carrying it around. And my head was hurting. I gave in.
So 5 bucks spent.
I was reflecting upon my action as I walked from the apartment, to the bus stop and now when I am writing my thoughts on the bus.
Is the 5 dollars worth spending?
I could have saved it if I had knew where was the nearest rubbish dump in the hdb area.
But I have no idea.
Or I could leave it somewhere?
But that is too inconsiderate.
So if I were given to make my choice again.
Will I spend that 5 dollars?
I think I might not.
But that's if my head is not hurting..
Maybe some people might think 'It's just 5 dollars!'
.. But I could spend it for my lunch tomorrow.
I could have save it..for paying investment fees
Lesson learnt:
If there is anything I could do it myself, I should really do it myself.
Frugal is the key.
But... money can really do wonders.
Every experience in life, is an lesson to learn and reflect.
Gonna write more this year!
