The Motivation Myth By Jeff Haden

Tell me your plan not your dream nor goal.
and Dream big.

That's bottom line of the Motivation Myth by Jeff Harden.

Uniquely, he provides several interesting phrases which are alike to
the famous "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail"

Here' re some phrases that I quite like it myself:

Starting is hard because "motivation" doesn't make it easy to start.
Starting provides the motivation to finish.

Confidence comes with preparation.
*which I truly agree & and one that I hold it strongly

Plans are great, but plans without action are just dreams.

Ideas without actions aren't ideas.

This book talks about achieving goals.

It's often that people have goals but yet not getting it.
Like one of the phrase says "starting is hard".
The inertia is often great. And you start hearing "I will do it next time" , "I am tired now.."

The book shows that we should plan.
Plan the steps on how to get there, towards your goal.
But, bear in mind.

Steps shouldn't be big. like let's run 5 km today if your goal is to run a 40 km marathon.
and you haven't been exercising for quite sometime.
This is "unrealistic".

Start small and build it up.

and it also talks about happiness while working to achieve your goal.
In life, it is (really) hard to get the best out of both worlds.
Similarly in Chinese, there is a saying 鱼和熊掌不可兼得.
In the midst of achieving your goal, there are sacrifices.
But at the end, we should ask this important question:
"Are you happy?"
If you aren't happy, it is quite obvious whether you should carry on.

Road to success is hardly smooth-sailing.
That is life.

But as we ourselves have to be responsible of the decisions made.
Because we made it.

Let's dream big and make goals,
Not a dream
But a reality, with planned actions.
